Knowledge is power. Power can be achieved through how you apply the knowledge you have acquired in your 'live and learn' encounter with human beings. Such knowledge can be acquired through practical experience most times and your best bet is through your network . Your network should consist of people who are ready to invest in you or add value to your life while you reciprocate to these categories of people. After all, society is structured upon the principle of give and take. From my standpoint, it is best to engage in such so as to increase your chances of being a decent human being with reasonably high standards.
